    Payroll Manager - London based Acute NHS Trust

    Objective:

    A large London based NHS Trust approached Lawson Bishop, in regards to a temporary recruitment need, within their payroll department due to a new system being implemented. The brief was to supply a candidate with a strong payroll background with recent NHS experience to start immediately without a face-to-face interview with the client.

    Methodologies:

    Lawson Bishop advertised the role on three job sites. All responses were screened by Lawson Bishop and candidates with the most appropriate and relevant experience were subject to a telephone interview. Those successful were then called in for a face-to-face interview with Lawson Bishop. A short list was compiled of the two best candidates and these were presented to the client. From which one was selected to start immediately.


    Financial Controller - London Based Media Publishing Company

    The Client:

    Electric Word is a mixed-media publishing company that specialises in education management, sports performance, health and funding. They now publish 32 subscription titles.

    The Requirement:

    Electric Word required a finalist level Management Accountant to join the operation following the resignation of an employee. The client spoke to our trained consultant who discussed the requirement in great detail, ensuring that all the information was gathered to match the need of Electric Word.

    Matching the Requirement:

    Lawson Bishop provided the client with 3 candidates previously interviewed and vetted by Lawson Bishop that potentially filled the clients requirement. Lawson Bishop then met the client face to face to determine the suitability of the candidates, and to advise on the strongest fit for Electric Word. This process assured Electric Word of the quality of the candidates and secured 1st stage interviews.

    The Interview Process:

    Lawson Bishop ensured that the candidates were well presented and punctual for interview, and then provided prompt feedback from the candidates, ensuring that the interview process ran smoothly and that there was total transparency throughout.

    A successful placement within the organisation. Lawson Bishop make contact on regular intervals to ensure that Electric Word are happy with the performance of the candidate and that post employment of the candidate is a success.     A large transportation company approached Lawson Bishop to address recruiting two Finance Directors following a recent acquisition.

    Methodologies:

    The search and selection of these candidates were through a number of websites’ search engines, Lawson Bishop’s database, and candidate recommendations. Lawson Bishop handled all responses and following initial telephone screening a short list was conducted for all relevant applicants, and first round interviews took place. Successful candidates short-listed were presented to the organisation for final interview process, selection and offer. Here's the results:

    From the short list of candidates interviewed, all were well represented by their CVs and the portraits of the individuals painted by the consultant were accurate.     The first meeting:

    I spoke to Stuart a lot on the phone prior to the 1st Interview. He was very helpful and was keen to get the best out of my experience into the CV. I met Stuart face to face and we got on well and he was very encouraging with regards my skills and the kind of positions I should go for.

    The role:

    Stuart gave me as much information as he had for the position.

    The interview:

    Stuart clearly knew the client well and he briefed me on what made my interviewer tick and some pointers that would help me score points with the interviewer. This proved to be very helpful and I am sure it also helped me secure the position.

    Interview Feedback and appraisal:

    Stuart gave me very positive feedback from my 1st Interview and quite quickly too. The second interview was arranged very well and again Stuart gave me some background info on the 2nd Interviewer.

    The Offer and post offer contact:

    Stuart handled my negotiations well and secured me extra salary to cover the loss of Pension contributions. He kept in contact all the time and made sure that Contract had been received and I was happy with it.

    The first meeting:

    I first spoke to a consultant after seeing an advert for Lawson Bishop. After discussing my experience in depth over the telephone, I was invited to attend a face-to-face interview and to register with Lawson Bishop. The consultant advised me that my experience was best suited to Public Sector roles and I agreed. I was assured that I would be contacted about any roles that matched my skill-set in the sector that I wanted to work in.

    The search:

    Lawson Bishop was consistent in contacting me with roles that were of interest. I felt that they had a good grasp of what would be of interest to me. I have been contacted regularly since starting the assignment to make sure that I am happy and that everything is going well. The assignment has proven to be worthwhile not only as Lawson Bishop secured a great rate, but the client intends to extend my services beyond the original assignment date.
